Hamas conducts successful drone mission in Tel Aviv
A picture taken from the southern Israeli Gaza border shows smoke billowing from buildings following an Israeli air strike in Gaza City, on July 12, 2014.
The military wing of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas says it has successfully conducted a drone surveillance mission over the Israeli Defense Ministry in Tel Aviv.
"Today we reveal for the first time that our drones carried out specific missions during one of their sorties over the Zionist War Ministry in Tel Aviv, in which the aggression on Gaza is led," the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades said in a statement, according to the Quds news website.
Earlier, the Israeli army claimed it had downed an unmanned drone near the southern city of Ashdod. It said the drone had come from Gaza and was shot down Monday by a Patriot missile.
The deadly attacks by the Zionist forces have so far left nearly 175 Palestinians dead and over 2,000 more injured.
Most of the casualties are women and children, as many of the areas targeted by the regime forces are homes, mosques and hospitals.
