Hamas hits Israeli warplane over Gaza Strip

The military wing of the Palestinian resistance movement (Hamas) says it has hit an Israeli F-16 warplane over the besieged Gaza Strip.

The Qassam Brigades says the Israeli jet was targeted early Wednesday with a surface-to-air missile over the city of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza.

The Palestinian sources say the Israeli plane was hit while preparing to attack a site. The Palestinian fighters also say they have destroyed an Israeli tank in north of Beit Hanoun.

The Israeli military has yet to make an official comment on the incidents.

Two more Israeli soldiers were killed in fighting in the besieged enclave, raising the official number of the troops killed in the 16-day Israeli offensive against the blockaded Palestinian sliver to 29.

However, the Palestinian resistance movement says the death toll is higher. Hamas said it has killed more than 50 soldiers.

Israel has kept a tight rein on media outlets with regards to the exact number of Israeli soldiers captured or killed during its ongoing offensive against the besieged Gaza Strip.

The rising death toll of Israeli forces during the ongoing assault on the Gaza Strip has lessened support among the Israeli public for this criminal war.
