Syrian security forces have discovered a mass grave in the capital Damascus, containing the bodies of at least 25 civilians killed by Western-backed insurgents.
The report said the bodies had their hands tied and their eyes masked, suggesting execution style killings, which are carried out by “armed terrorist group” fighting against the Syrian government.
Meanwhile, the Syrian troops have completed clearing al-Hajar al-Aswad area in Damascus from insurgents.
Also on Saturday, clashes were reported between Syrian government forces and armed gangs near a military airport in the country’s northern city of Aleppo.
On Friday, security forces uncovered a tunnel connecting the neighborhoods of al-Khalidiyeh, al-Qusour and al-Hasuiyeh in the city of Homs which was being used by insurgents.
Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011.
Damascus says outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorists are the driving factor behind the unrest and deadly violence while the opposition accuses the security forces of being behind the killings.
Western states have been calling for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to step down. However, Russia and China are strongly opposed to the drive to oust Assad.
