The Syrian Army has managed to completely clean some areas in the central province of Hama of the foreign-backed militants, Press TV reports.
A recent field inspection of the crisis-hit province shows the terrorist groups have completely withdrawn from some areas.
The report added that following the Syrian army’s fierce attacks against the militant groups, the tribes in the region have signed an agreement with the Army, pledging not to allow any armed terrorists into their villages.
The report added that the armed terrorists are currently present only in some parts of Rif governorate in the province.
Meanwhile, villagers in Hama Province have underscored the importance of Iran’s role in resolving the Syrian crisis.
After the militants took control of Taftnaz Airport in Syria's northwestern province of Idlib in early January, the province has become a focal point for the militants with the terrorist groups reportedly getting prepared to invade the only Shia-dominated town in the province.
The news comes as the leaders of the so-called Syrian National Council failed to form a “transitional government” at a Monday meeting in the Turkish city of Istanbul amid increasing differences among the parties involved.
Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011. Many people, including large numbers of security forces, have been killed in the turmoil.
The Syrian government says the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a very large number of the militants are foreign nationals.
