Russia Warns US Against More Aid for Syrian Militants
Russia warns US against more aid for Syria militants

[ Editors Note: The Russian ground support planes arrived and have been deployed before the Americans flew one mission against the ISIS. I am not sure who is dancing with whom here as there is more than enough intrigue to start a new Ian Flemmig book already.
The US seems to be holding their cards to see how the political positions line up so as not get into a shooting war when it may already be hopeless, as we are allies of all the combatants including ISIS. They never taught this kind of stuff at West Point.
Maliki offered the Sunnis amnesty today, to come back into the fold. They would usually prefer to do that when the ISIS had been run off and cannot get their hands on them. And General Casey tells us that the advisers are going to be extensively evaluating the Army capabilities.
We are very suspicious as to the real strength of the ISIS as we see many signs of sophisticated theatrics going on, and most importantly, that ISIS is getting major signals Intel. The possible patron list would surprise you, short but interesting.
This could be code for Maliki to get a unity government together or maybe all power could go to the military to hold the country together if the US can find suitable takers.
Russia and Iran want to hold Iraq together to cover Iran’s flank. The Saudis seem to prefer a fragile state to a failed on where Iran might end up on their border as the defacto protectors of the Iraqi Shias.
All of this is due, of course, to the wonderful Intel minds in the West who felt the destabilization game was a no lose one, even after several trillion bucks whizzed away. The only folks that don’t see that as a disaster are those that got a good chunk of it.
Even if they run the ISIS folks off with all of their loot, the Iraqis are still left with a very unstable country with the Kurds challenging Baghdad to a separation duel.
It is a hell of a mess where if one fire gets contained another can breakout, and where anybody who can fight will be wanting to save their forces for when and if it becomes War Lord time, the last man standing kind… Jim W. Dean ]

Russia has warned the United States against increasing its support for the foreign-backed Syrian opposition. Earlier, US President Barack Obama’s administration asked Congress for $500 million for the US military to train and equip those armed Syrian oppositionist that the White House calls “moderate.”
In a statement on Monday, Russia’s Foreign Ministry criticized the move as “more than strange,” saying the potential aid would only bolster what the militants of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) have declared as being a “caliphate” in parts of Iraq and Syria.
“Given the real situation on the ground, these considerable funds, if allocated, would in fact serve entirely to strengthen the terrorist ‘caliphate’ proclaimed by the ISIL,” the statement said.
It added that the militants have challenged not only rival extremist groups, but also all the countries of the Islamic world. The US and its Western and regional allies, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey, have openly supported the militancy in Syria.
The foreign-backed militancy in Syria has also spilled over into neighboring Iraq in recent weeks. on June 10, the ISILTakfiri militants gained control of Mosul, the capital of Iraq’s Nineveh Province, which was followed by the fall of Tikrit, located 140 kilometers (87 miles) northwest of Baghdad. Over the past days, Iraqi armed forces have been engaged in fierce clashes with the terrorists
ISIL militants that have overrun parts of Syria, claimed the formation of a so-called Islamic caliphate or state in an audio recording distributed on extremist websites on June 29.
Thousands of Iraqis have been killed by the ISIL and about one million people have been displaced in Iraq since the ISIL launched its bloody campaign. Senior Muslim clerics have condemned the ISIL atrocities, including mass executions and rape.
