Jim Croce - Netizn`s opinion

Although motivated by his wife Ingrid to play country and folk music together, when this Italian-American mix matured in his mind his star shone immediately. Of course, Maury helped significantly in this with his great talent, but it was Jim who took the lead having the confidence of being able to communicate directly with the audience.

Jim Coce was widely regarded as one of the best singer/songwiters ever. His name is often associated with the likes of Pete Seeger, Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon to name a few. Originally, in the eyes of the music industry, Maury was the star. He and Jim released an album (or two) featuring Maury that did not take off. Several years later the record companies repackaged the duo under Jim Croce and the rest is history. Maury is a great songwriter, musician, and arranger. So much talent!

Probably because no person alive can write an entire novel, condense it to 3 minutes, put it to music and tell an entire story. Jim & Maury are masters. Not were but still are. There has never been a storyteller in music like Croce. I wish somebody came along who could do that, but there never has been and never will be an artist like Jim & Maury. RIP guys. They’ve been gone since ’73, but the music is timeless.

Everyone knows Jim & Maury were great, but something I think people overlook, is that Maury was one of the best backup singers EVER! He never tried to out-sing, or out-volume Jim. And his harmonies are perfect. Not were perfect, but still are perfect. These guys’ bodies might be gone, but these songs will be here after everybody on this planet has been long gone and forgotten. These songs have a life.

That's the sign of a true musician....the practice of proper restraint and emphasizing the correct parts for the SONG! These guys are great, literally the first time I've ever heard this song (don't tar and feather me), but they are from a much older generation. Makes me want to listen to more, they sound fantastic and I love how easy they sound as players and singers.
