Video shows Syrian insurgents execute soldiers
A grisly video footage circulated on the web shows foreign-backed insurgents killing Syrian soldiers execution-style at a checkpoint in the crisis-hit country.
The video, whose authenticity cannot be verified, was posted on the video-sharing website YouTube and is believed to be the tip of the iceberg of the killing of 28 Syrian soldiers at three checkpoints in the northwestern Syrian province of Idlib on Thursday, AFP reported.
In the footage, which was reportedly filmed at Hamisho checkpoint west of the northwestern city of Saraqeb, the insurgents beat about 10 soldiers before executing them with automatic rifles.
Meanwhile, the so-called Syrian National Council (SNC) said that the West and its allies instigate radicalization in the crisis-hit Arab country.
Earlier in the day, a number of armed men were killed during intense clashes with Syrian troops in the central town of Hama. The insurgents were planning to attack al-Jeed, al-Aziziyeh and Jisr beit al-Raas villages in the al-Ghab area of Hama province.
On the same day, Syrian soldiers launched an offensive against insurgents near the village of Kherbet al-Masasneh, killing scores of them.
The Syrian Army also seized a large amount of weapons and destroyed a car used by insurgents.
Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011. Many people, including large numbers of army and security personnel, have been killed in the turmoil.
The Syrian government says that the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a very large number of the insurgents are foreign nationals.
