Russian Defence Minister Anatoly Serdyukov stressed that the Syrian Arab Army which is resisting the armed groups still maintains its combat efficiency.
On the other hand, Serdyukov considered the meeting with the French side as fruitful, discussing many issues including the situation in Syria.
He pointed out that France agrees that fighting in Syria will not solve the crisis, clarifying that the French stance was very convergent with the Russian, thus the deliberations were very friendly.
Kalashnikov: West Approach on Situation in Syria Disgusting
First deputy chairman of the State Duma International Affairs Committee Leonid Kalashnikov condemned the media war launched against Syria and the western interference in Syria’s internal affairs.
In an interview with SANA correspondent in Moscow Thursday, Kalashnikov said that the West countries approach on the situation in Syria is disgusting because they are aware that implementing the Libyan scenario in Syria will result in catastrophic repercussions and numerous victims, but they insist on their policy of provocation and arming and funding the armed terrorist groups.
He added that the west has admitted inability to pass a resolution agaisnt syria through the UN Security Council as they did with Libya; therefore, they decided to aggravate the situation in Syria through a neighboring country which is a NATO member.
For his part, Andrei Filippov, head of the Russian Communist Party Central Committee’s Department for International Affairs criticized in an interview with SANA correspondent in Moscow the armed opposition groups, adding that these groups cannot be described as opposition because they rejected to adhere to the proposed ceasefire.
He pointed out that the western countries rejected to back a Russian initiative to issue a UN Security Council statement condemning the terrorist attacks in Syria.
