A rocket was reportedly fired from southern Lebanon yesterday and exploded inside northern Israel, further raising concerns that the region is inching closer to war.
UN peacekeepers in southern Lebanon detected what appeared to be a possible rocket launch early yesterday from somewhere between the southern border villages of Bourj Malouk and Deir Mimes. The sound of an explosion was heard in northern Israel but no casualties or damage was reported.
Searches by the Lebanese army and UN peacekeepers failed to find the launch site and Israeli troops were unable to determine where the it landed.
