The ceremony is being held at the mausoleum of the Founder of the Islamic Republic the late Imam Khomeini with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in attendance. 

A number of top state military and political officials as well as foreign diplomats are also present in the event. 

Different Army units are to parade during the ceremony to demonstrate their combat power, military capabilities and latest achievements. 

The event is covered by scores of domestic and foreign reporters, correspondents, photographers and camerapersons.

Iran says produced short-range S-300 system

An Iranian top military commander announced on Wednesday that the Islamic republic has made the short-range S-300 air defense missile system in the country.

The commander of Khatam al-Anbiya air defense base, Brigadier General Ahmad Miqani told Al-Alam that the short-range S-300 air defense missile system has been designed and produced by the Iranian experts.

The Iranian official also said that the production of long-range S-300 defense system is in its final stages too.

Miqani said that Mersad missile and its defense system which was produced last year, is now widely available to the army.

In recent years, the Islamic republic has relied on its domestic expertise in producing military equipment particularly long-range missiles and unmanned military aircrafts.

Iran on Wednesday displayed the solid-fuel Sajjil which has the longest range of any missile in Iran's arsenal, more than 1,250 miles (2,000 kilometers).

On Tuesday, Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi announced that the third generation of Fateh missiles has been delivered to the Islamic Republic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC).

Vahidi also briefed on the new domestically-built medium-range ballistic missile dubbed Fateh-110.

orps held a military parade on Wednesday marking the Holy Defense Week at the 30th anniversary of 8-year war imposed on the country by Iraqi former regime.

The Islamic republic displayed its latest domestic military advancement including a long-range advanced missile and a domestic unmanned bomber aircraft.

The solid-fuel Sajjil has the longest range of any missile in Iran's arsenal, more than 1,250 miles (2,000 kilometers).

The Deputy Commander of Iran's armed forces Major General Hassan Firouz Abadi said Iran's military capabilities are part of the country's defense strategy against possible threats. He said that Tehran is ready to repel any possible attacks.

Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said on Tuesday that the third generation of Fateh missiles has been delivered to the IRGC.

In a ceremony, Vahidi briefed on the new domestically-built medium-range ballistic missile dubbed Fateh-110.

He said that the developments and achievements in the country's defense technology indicate that threats and sanctions have been ineffective and have only strengthened the Iranian nation's resolve.

The 9-meter long and 3,500-kilogram Fateh-110 missile has a quicker launch time compared to previous versions and has been successfully test-fired.
